Cleaning solution

Post by TEAM ROSBIF »

Hi guys, well yes we pulled Luke's engine and gearbox and yes its extremely dirty.
I have a parts washer I have never used and was wondering what solution can you get to safely remove all the oily sludge from the various components ? I know that at least some of you have cleaned your engines from time to time...................

thanks

Mark

I use various engine degreasers for the really heavy stuff but usually concentrated Simple Green. Brake Spray cleaner is good too but it goes fast and will take paint off anything it splashes onto. Another great degreaser I found recently is "Oil Eater". Works great, only downside is that it leaves a slight residue. It's the best thing I've found so far for cleaning oil spots off the driveway.

Hi Mark and Luke,
I usually scrape the worst and thickest off, then soak it in degeaser. I use Purple power from Pep Boys. Then I power wash it off. If it's still dirty, I repeat the process. Purple Power won't take off the paint, but it does give off acrid fumes, so don't breathe it in.
