Dead Three Main Brg. 1800 Engine Value ?

Post by VWNate1 »

O.K.;

It looks like I finally found a dead 1800 , the guy tells me it's stuck and he wants $300 for it ~ this is the regular price for a good running '65 > 1800 , are these early ones valuable all of a sudden ? they used to be boat anchors .

Thoughts please ! .

TIA ,

Nate,

I have an 1800 block that you can have if you want it for free. You just have to come pick it up.
Let me know.
It would require a rebuild just so you know.

The 3-main B engines have become scarce because all the racers gobbled them up. A lot of MGA guys (including myself) are running them now as well, since other than bore it's nearly identical to the stock MGA unit. Values have definitely gone up, but I don't know if I'd pay $300 for a stuck engine, 3-main or not! I'd offer $100 cash if it's mostly complete and isn't all rusted out.

I would say that if a rebuildable, three main engine isn't worth $300.00, then you don't want one that badly.

Martin ;

Is it an early three main bearing one ? if so , I'll come get it forthwith .

Malcom , therin lies the rub ~ there's no guarantee it's rebuildable , just a pig in a poke for $300 :wtf: .
