Austin A-40 Ignition Help?

Post by VWNate1 »

Hi ;

A friend of mine out of state has a 1955 Austin 1200 C.C. engine and says there's no timing marks on it...... :? .

Neither he nor I have any Shop Manuals on it , I'm sure someone here knows where the timing marks are supposed to be ~ I told him to look at the bottom of the crank pulley .

I'd appreciate any pictures or links to pictures , even parts manuals showing what to look for as well as the correct timing to use in degrees .

TIA ,
-Nate

I don't know where they are supposed to be, but he could always make his own. Just get it at exact TDC, make a mark, then use an adjustable timing light to set the rest. Or math, but who wants to do that? ;)

Yes but ;

He's in another state and doesn't have the skillset to definitively find TDC......

I need a picture or diagram .

This might work. There should be a hole in the face of the pulley or notch as usual on later cars. Depends on if the motor has been changed in the past.
