Now that Max is slowly getting back to the way he was before I entrusted his bits to the wrong people I'm kind of reviewing what was what when he ran his best.
When I got the head, manifold and carbs back from Huffaker he ran his best. Now that Sean Brown did his magic on the head with a proper valve jobs and touch ups ( including matching the new intake manifold) its running great and breathing better.
One thing that Huffaker did that the last SU rebuilder poo poo'd was that Huffaker knife edged the butterflies. This rebuilder said racers do that but its doesn't seal as well having them that way. Since I had to send the SU's to correct this rebuilders mistakes I think I want another opinion.
Boy I wish I knew Malcolm and this board was around 10 years ago.

Knife edging the butterflies is a performance tweek. It makes for better gas flow at full throttle, but can sometimes give a poorer idle. Of course racers don't care about idle, and usually have a cam that isn't idle friendly. I would suggest using stock butterflies.
