2007 Memorial Day British Car Cruise

Post by Steve Simmons »

It's that time again... for the first holiday event of the season! The 2007 Memorial Day British Car Cruise will take place on Monday, May 28th. It's British Car Week, so no excuses for not driving your pride and joy!

Details and route directions can be viewed and printed by clicking here. (No longer available)

Photos from previous events can bee seen at these links:

Have more photos? Post 'em if you got 'em! :)

NEW INFORMATION (added 5/11): For anyone coming from out of the area, Supercar Sunday in Woodland Hills is the day before the Memorial Day Run. There is a nice "Good Night Inn" in Calabasas, ten minutes from both events. Rates are reasonable (around $60) with AAA discounts. I'm assuming all British Car owners have AAA, right? ;)

After I saw your post on MOALA's site about the Memorial Day run this year, I was very happy to see what a great new site you have set up for all British cars, Steve. I bookmarked it and put it right next to your MG site in my list.

I really enjoyed last year's run and hope to make it again this year. I am currently baffled by what is making my 67 Innocenti Mini die after running for a few minutes. Don't know if it is fuel or electrical, but I am getting fuel to the HIF6 carb as I did a test into a coffee can to see if the electric fuel pump was working well. I took the fuel line off at the carb after the fuel filter and got a good flow when turning the key on. If it's electrical, I'm lost as to where to go next. Being up here in the Santa Barbara area in Summerland, I have no idea who to go to for electrical continuity tests to see what that turns up and if anyone knows anyone who can help me figure this out, I would be very glad to pay whatever it takes to get me back on the road.

Last time I saw you was on New Year's Day in the Santa Monica Mts. when I was leading a group of 7 Minis as you and another MG passed us going the other way. Everybody got a big kick out of seeing you guys appear out of "nowhere". I would love to join and videotape you guys some weekend on another run if I can't get my Mini fixed in time for this year's Mem. Day Run.

Bye for now, Wayne

PS: My Mini is the metallic blue with white top 67 Innocenti with Fortech flares. I'll see if I can attach a pic of it.

Hey Wayne, good to "see" you! That day you guys drove past the other way was great! I knew exactly who it was because your Minis are all so unique. We had an amazing day after we passed you guys. I made a post (with photo link) about it here: http://socalbritishmotoring.com/viewtopic.php?t=20 Unfortunately you also came out of nowhere so I didn't have time to snap a photo.

Have you checked your fuel pump for overheating? Also the coil? It sounds like a ground and/or heat problem somewhere. If you're running points, have you replaced the condenser? I seriously doubt it's a carb problem.

Thanks Kirk! I really have enjoyed it except for the current problem of not running for more than a few minutes on the road and then just dying. Even with Steve's great ideas on what could be wrong with it, I haven't been able to figure out where the problem is, which means I will be missing the run this coming weekend. Oh well. I just don't know enough about the electrical gremlins to defeat them.

I won't give up and may yet figure it out in time. If not, I'll see you guys down the road sometime on the next run hopefully.

That was great, I just wish that we didn't have other plans and could have continued with the drive (turned off at Piuma...). Next time, no other plans - Peter Davison, 1957 Morgan +4 [/img]

It turned into a beautiful day, too. Wish you could have stayed with the pack longer! See you for the Independence Run?
