Re: Spotted Around Town
Spotted this a while back, right around the corner from where I live. Most people either love or hate the Alfa Montreal. I am squarely in the 'love' camp, though I tend to see this model less as an Alfa than as a truly unique expression of automotive design.

Re: Spotted Around Town
Unfortunately I didn't have time to get a picture, but today must be MG Monday!
I took my MGB out to breakfast, she didn't eat much While leaving the gas station I spotted a white rubber bumper MGB with tan top. After breakfast I was leaving the shopping area and saw a red 1/2 rubber bumper MGB with black top. I say 1/2 rubber because the front was converted to chrome and the rear was still rubber.
Then on the freeway heading home I was a tan MG Midget with back top heading the opposite direction of the freeway.

The dog is bigger than the car. What is that, a Rambler?

Re: Spotted Around Town
It is a 1961 Rambler American Convertible.
Body style changed very little up through 1970.
Fairly rare now days.

Re: Spotted Around Town
Just got back from a trip to England. Saw a number of cool cars, like an old Bentley (20's? ) racecar looking thing, three morgan trikes driving together, 2 cool TVRs, tons of MG's and Jags. Not many pictures as nearly all were spotted as I drove.
I'm not much of a modern supercar guy, but I'll admit it was pretty imrpessive to see a some sort of group out with 2 Enzos, a LaFerrari, several other modern ferraris and Lamborghinis (10 or more), a stack of 911's, a Carrera GT, a 918 Porsche, several maclarens, two Bugatti, and a Pagani. Living in LA, it's easy to get jaded and thing, eh, seen that, about modern super cars, but it was easily the most impressive lineup I've seen barreling down a road. And the sound was truly something else. It had to be 20M-30M and who knows how many HP.
I had a conversation with a guy in a Basque restaurant in Paris about the memorabilia. The restaurant was plastered with pictures of an 300SL Gullwing mercedes in racing trim, and several bits and pieces that looked as if they were from the car (steering wheels, wheels, etc.). My french is weak, and the owner spoke even less English, so I couldn't get much story, but apparently his dad had owned the car and raced with it, as well as hiring other drivers to race. I got that one of the drivers was famous and had potentially won some races, but I didn't recognize the name and don't recall it. His dad then gave him the $$ to start the restaurant.
I did spot this Morris in Bath, England.
I took my Grandma to her ophthalmologist while I was there. He travels around, and basically rents space in another Dr's office. Sadly, this meant he didn't know anything about the 10-12 pictures that decorated the place, which all seemed to be related to this particular car (with one or two that appeared to be the same female driver in other cars.

Re: Spotted Around Town
That's an MG P-Type, one of the "Dancing Daughters" team of the early 1930's. Possibly piloted by Doreen Evans but hard to tell for sure. She was a very well known female racer of the era.

Re: Spotted Around Town
Hi. My wife and I were on our way to dinner in the old-town Pasadena area tonight, and we spotted a very nice dark blue MGB GT with chrome wires. Actually spotted him twice, once going in, and once again on the way out! We couldn't even begin to figure the odds of seeing a nice B GT to begin with, let alone seeing the same nice B GT twice within a couple of hours!

Barry ;
Southern California in general is loaded with old cars and folks who like to take them out .
Pasadena in particular has a massive amount of old iron that's on display daily.....
MGB's are every where , lots of grey market ones to enjoy too .

Oh wow, nice Locomobile! I would have come up just for that, if I wasn't working on this lovely Sunday.

Re: Spotted Around Town
It's always fun to watch Nate flog his poor Metro around corners on 3 wheels- with a stock engine and an automatic! Can you imagine what he would do with a Miata engine in it?

? Break even more wheels ? .
As it turns out , I'm hoping to overhaul a 1963 MGB 1800 engine I recently found for it......
For some odd reason , the tranny also needs overhauling I think .

They put the same label in the front, but you have to wonder why they didn't put a warning label on the scary square laser above the license plate.
