1976 Jensen Interceptor Convertible. The factory closed in May of 1976 and only produced 52 convertibles. The 76's had double bumpers to meet federal safety standards. Produced with a 440 cu in Chrysler V8.

Larry,
Thanks for the compliment, the TR is kind of nice. The E-type is off the road at the moment but I hope to have it going again soon.

Sandy, does that car really have a 440 in it?!? And can you describe or show a "double bumper"?

Steve, look at the front and rear bumper, you will see two. Yes on the 440, and I can show you my gas bills.

Oh, I thought you meant each bumper was a double bumper, like two on each end or one inside another. Duh!

I've always liked the Jensens too.

Steve, should this thread be sticky? There's a lot of great cars in it.

I've realized that I hadn't posted a photo of my E-type. It's a '68 series 1 1/2 coupe I was fortunate enough to get from the original owner's son. It's not a show car, but a fun driver to go along with my '67 MG B and '74 Nova.

Morgan - Great car! Hope to see it soon.

Team Rosbif - Is the MGA an original works car? Do you only vintage race the MGA or do you drive it on the street too? What condition is your E-type in? Are you in So Cal?

Larry
Yes, this is an original works supported car, raced by Geoff Dear of the Octagon Racing team from 1958 thru 1961. Abingdon was not 'officially' running a works team, but were supporting private teams, in this case Mr Dear who was a well known MG dealer. All the correct modifications were done by the factory. I shipped it from the UK and live in Topanga, CA where I plan on mainly using it on the road and occasional race, pretty much what it was designed to do!
The E type is a matching #, 1966 coupe, minimal rust, original example, awaiting a full restoration.
Hope to go to a meet soon and see everyone in person.
cheers

Wow, what an amazing history! I can't wait to see that car in person. I'm surprised I haven't seen it on the road since I've been driving through Topanga Canyon regularly for 15 years.

We should get your MGA, my MGC and Larry's MGB out to Supercar Sunday next week!

Hey Steve, the reason you have not seen it on the canyon, is it arrived the same time as a full remodel on the house, oh and also had twins in the middle of all that.
Cant wait to get it on the road, wont be for a few months though, I pick up the engine from Bill Schlossnagel this weekend, just so you know this car will not be over restored, more refurbished to the way it was racing in the early sixties .

soon

Well hurry up because now that I know it's so close, I gotta see it! If you see a guy driving through the canyon really slowly in an M.G., peeking into yards and open garages, don't worry. It's just me looking for your car.

Hey Steve, the three cars at VCR would be fun. Once his car is ready, I'll be there!

Hi Larry, my name is Mark.
It would be great to meet up with everyone, I must admit, I have been not very connected to the local classic car scene, mainly because its taken so long to get the Twin Cam up and running. I grew up with MG's, Jags, Aston Martins in Scotland/ England , my Dad still races a Grand Prix Delahaye 135 over in France.
Looking forward to getting YD1 526 on the road........... dream car next, restore the E Type!

Welcome Mark! It appears we have some parallel car interests with the works MG's (a re-creation in my case), and the E-type Jags.

Great car history in your background. I came to British cars in high school after growing up around 50's and 60's Corvettes and American cars. I've always had an interest in motorsports.

Let us know when your MG is ready!

Well we just got closer to being on the road, here are some pictures of the MGA Twin Cam engine after picking it up this weekend from Bill Schlossnagel, will be installing tomorrow. It is authentic, in color, being a BMC gold seal replacement block.
