Re: Post a picture of your ride!
You're right, and duly noted. I should know to write Bimmer since I've owned two of them.
Your gray is definitely not what I have, which is more of an off white. Still a neat color though.

See what has happened to BMW recently - overly complicated. The paint code for my '88 M5 is Schwarz. Black.
Not "Buttonwillow Asphalt Black", just Black. Simple and to the point.
That is a beautiful 2002 by the way.

If I am not mistaken, they kind of slowed down this way of color naming sometime ago. The last one I remember was Interlagos/Montego Blue that came out with the last batch of E46 M3s and the first batch of the new M5s a few years back (did I make it worse?)
Edit: Yes I agree with you that BMW made a few stupid moves in the past few years indeed.

Nah. No metallic whatsoever. As a matter of fact, this color was a single stage color out of the factory. I might be able to join the 1/1/11 drive and you are welcome to check it out up close.tdskip wrote:Like Space Gray Metallic? What the hell is that?

Re: Post a picture of your ride!
Ok, did some work on my car. Was able to get more done on the bodywork and now she is one color again after many years of being a patchwork. Now that I have a nice primer coat on I can see places that need attention. I was also able to get the OK from DMV to put my black and gold plates on the car! They look great and really give the car the vintage look she needs.

Yum!
In baseball, running into someone is apparently a "collision".
But doing the same thing in a car somehow makes it an "accident".

I second that! I'm not really an engine swap guy but I'll be the first to admit that your car would be a whole lot of fun to take through a canyon.Jimmy wrote:Yum!

You have a thing for red cars, I see. Can't say I blame you, they look great! Besides, I have two red cars as well.

Nice, you should join us on Monday for the drive. Of course, you might be waiting. Your car's probably have 3-4 times the HP of some of ours! Like mine.

A couple of new photos of my car....no I did not take them...they would have been very out of focus if I had taken them or had a thumb in the photo....
These were taken at the Autocross in Santa Barbara on July 31, 2011

Re: Post a picture of your ride!
Hello all -- Rick here! I'm a British ex-pat living and working in Los Angeles (nothing to do with "the industry"!!!). I've got an '80 MGB roadster -- picture enclosed.
She's in pretty good nick, just now turned 38,000 miles from new. !! Yes, really! Was stored for 10 years or so, and so i had a lot of dried up rubber to replace. Just about to put a new electrical system in (front to back) as it looks a couple of 14 year olds have chopped the wires to hell and back. There's only so much one can do with broken bits!
Just now found out about vintagemotoring.net, and i was recently complaining about the lack of classic Brit motorclubs in SoCal, and so I'm very excited to come along to some events!
I had a 1973 MG Midget (sort of race-prepped) when I was back in England and i loved it more than The Queen herself. My dad wouldn't let me sell it out of the family (his biggest regret was selling his first car, which was an MG TC) and so i "sold" it to him for 5 quid before i moved to America. Every now and again I get to drive her when i go home to visit. Ahhhh, i miss the round-rear-wheel-arch Midgets. 73 was the best year!
I learned to drive on my mum's 66 B roadster, and got in trouble many a time when i returned home after "stealing it" for a few hours. When I moved to LA from NYC I hadnt driven in years and like an idiot went out and got a sensible car (a new Beetle). After destroying my driving soul for a year or two with the VW, i couldnt take it any more and found myself a nice daily driver project car and I lucked out with my current 80 B.
Anyway. Just saying hi and catching up with the forum.
Hope to see "y'all" soon!
Best,
Rick Tait

Nice cars Mark. Where is Newbury Park CA? The coastal photo looks a lot like Montara CA.

Now there's a man who loves British racing green. Beautiful cars, Mark!
I just ate dinner in Newbury Park. It's down here in So Cal, next to Thousand Oaks. That first photo looks like Route1near Big Sur though. I also see Mulholland Highway.
