The bricking job is enhanced by Jerry and Austin's German driving tools!

It took a lot more bricks than I planned. I know what you are thinking... "Why didn't you use a tape measure and calculate the square footage." Well, that works IF you know where you are planning to lay the bricks in the first place. I initially was just going to extend the apron in from of the porch a few feet, then why not far enough to roll a car onto so I can park and wash without having to deal with the gravel. Then, why not extend a few strips to the gate, train depot style, then why not fill it in, then why not add a walk around to the side door, then how about a pad off the side door, then why not add a walk way to the shed...

So, Martin I don't know how many bricks I laid. I did lay them all myself at about 1-2 pallets a day, and if I thought I was going to do such a big area I would have started with an appropriately long delay of procrastination. I am guessing it was somewhere between 6 to 8 gloves, or around 10 - 12 pallets at 596 bricks/pallet.

What is not shown is the roadway to the back side area which is still in gravel and road base. I hope to get started on a retaining wall this summer, and replace the road base with real stone so it looks nice and tidy for a VM gathering/garage tour.

Well here are a couple of photos of my GT6 as finished as it is going to get for a while.
Still needs a couple of little things in the way of seals (like around the wing windows) and plugs to be replaced because they are lod and cracked but still working for the time being.
Still a work in prograss.

Welcome! It was nice to see some new faces on the New Year's Day Run. Before I saw your car, I wouldn't have guessed that orange would look so good on an MGB. But it really does suit it.

Yes, but it's a real MGC, not a replica. It was built at the M.G. factory in 1969. The only difference is that certain areas have been modified to resemble the Works racers - lower body mods, engine tuning, dash mods, etc. I consider it more of a recreation, or perhaps tribute. A replica to me is a car that never existed, but was built with new materials to "replicate" an existing vehicle. Like those Bugattis and Alfas built by Pur Sang. You can't tell the difference from an original unless you know what to look for, yet they are built from the ground up as a completely new vehicle. And on the flip side, MiGi TDs are not replicas, they are kit cars. ;)

Hi Steve,
Just pulling your chain as I also think a similar way less you forget that I built a clone of a Lotus 7 and always told people that it was a clone and not the real thing.
I also agree that there are some real nice kits out their of certain cars like the GT-40's from South Africa and the continuation Jaguar's that are being produced in England of the Lightweight E-Type or the Singer Porsche's that use a modern drive train with an older body style to appear as the older model vehicle but yet have all of the refinements of the newer models design.
Your MG C GT is one of the sharpest recreation/tribute (clone) cars I have seen or had the pleasure to ride in as I originally though it was a works rally car that you imported when I first saw it due to the quality of the fit and finish.

Well ;

That was my old truck : unrestored 1949 Chevy 3100 with 1857 235 engine and original Muncie SM420 tranny , torque tube , wretched Huck (rhymes with SUCK) brakes .

At that time I had an original 1967 MGB GT in black , it had gone into a ripoff LBC repair shop in Glendale , Ca. for a major tune up and came back with a 1975 VB series , low compression , worthless engine , the original owner gave u on it and I'd found it in a bush , cut it loose and put it back on the road , the cylinder head had the usual crack so I bought this red 1967 MGB GT car just to get the correct (?) 1967 GC engine , I over hauled it and gave the '75 engine away , wasn't able to give away the never wrecked , RUST FREE original California black plated wire wheel car (? WTF ?) so I left it on the street in Sun Valley for l.A.P.D. to deal with .

I think I gave Malcolm the hatch , I still have the wildly hand painted front fender , I didn't save much else that I can recall .

The photo was a happy day (! original 1967 engine standard bore and crank !) but bittersweet at the same time , knowing I'd have a gard time getting rid of the body ~ I even tried to GIVE it to a local MG Club member who had FOUR complete but badly rusted out MK I MGB GT's , go figure :? .

O.K. , I am now told the same size file as the old truck phot , is too big to add so I can't show my new truck .
