Re: Know your cars and parts?
I'm saying left front brake late Jaguar XK120, or XK140. D-types are all disc braked.

Re: Know your cars and parts?
You're right Malcolm, D-types did have 4-wheel disc brakes, so did C-types starting in '52. So, I'm going to say 1951 C-type Jaguar.

You know Larry, a C-type is an XK120! Full title is XK120C. So we might both be right.

you do realize that there will be a reward for the eventual winner.
For now 20 points for the Make and Model. Don't need the year.

Hey Dean,
I don't think anyone has given the right answer to your last challenge, and I'd like to know what it is. Are you going to tell us? or at least give us another clue?

Re: Know your cars and parts?
I thought this one was so hard that it would take at least a month to solve...
(ok - I got the flu, busy with work and dropped the ball.) When the temperature soars above 100 degrees it puts a damper on car fun. But it is cooling down now, so let's get rolling.
You will be surprised that it is indeed a Ferrari 250 GT California Spider. I don't know how you guys guessed it. Was it really that obvious?
Here is where we stand on points. Mike and Spitfire (sorry I recall your first name) earn 20 points each. Gene with his fantastic Vegamatic guess earns 10 points.
Mike (whitebuffalo)- 35+20=55
Larry - 34.6
Malcolm - 30
Spitfire + 20
Tanny - 17
Gene +10
Steve - 10
Mark E - 6.2
Steve (equiprx) - 5.6
Leif - 5
Tyson - 2
Next will also be 20 a pointer!

Re: Know your cars and parts?
Having spend the last few days in Saudi with little or no connectivity, I see that we have a clear winner. The badge is indeed that of a Chevron. Steve (equiprx) scores the full points after having tried hard on several of the prior images. Nice job.
Here is a picture of the full car.
Mike (whitebuffalo) 55
Larry 34.6
Malcolm 30
Steve (equiprx) - 5.6 +20 = 25.6
Spitfire + 20
Tanny - 17
Gene +10
Steve - 10
Mark E - 6.2
Leif - 5
Tyson - 2
For 20 more points. Who's rear end? Make and Model.

Wow. That was super fast Steve. You are now tied with Malcolm. Had a chance to buy one of these for 20K and all it needed was a headliner. One of my favorites.

Steve (equiprx) 25.6
Spitfire + 20

Yep, you got it. You must have been to the Mullin Automoble Museum in Oxnard, CA. I thought the front part of the fender looked modern so it would be more difficult.whitebuffalo wrote:Oh Tanny, that one is too easy! 1938 Hispano Suiza Dubonnet Xenia.
Edited to put in right side up photo. My new iPhone5 takes all the photos upside down. Photoshop automatically turns them around. I uploaded the photo from my iPhone, which is why the photo was upside down.

Crap. That was the first one of these I knew, and I was too late. Probably my favorite car at the Mullin, and there are a lot of amazing machines there!
