Nate I can sympathize we started with a 1924 Model T garage a few years back:

Then we expanded back about 20' and raised the roof:
Now there are two car lifts in there with four cars.

I knew somebody would call me on that. The problem with a long narrow garage is that I can not get a good picture of it with the cars in there. We now have two lifts in there, front to back, which makes for some long term storage for at least one of the cars as the other three must be capable to roll or drive out. Here are a couple that don't show much, but they are the best I have for now.

Well, we figured that in order to keep the hole down, we should put some steel in it. That should keep it from going anywhere.

In order to keep small animals from falling through the bars and into the hole, I figured we would cover it up with something. So we ordered seven trucks worth of concrete to use as a lid on the hole. We missed a spot in the middle though.

Also, to keep the hole from sliding down the hill and consuming other people's garages, we are building a wall to hold it in place.

And just because I'm bored, here are a couple artsy shots.

Yahoo.

Seven trucks at 10 yards a load = ~70 yards or at 9 yards a load = ~63.

Do you know the total yards? Austin and I were betting on 75 without the back wall, so you did good.

That is an impressive amount of concrete and it looks like Eddie did a fine job!

I'm not sure if it was 9 or 10 yards per truck, but there were 3 yards left over in the last one and we used about 5 yards in a retaining wall.

I'm starting to worry about someone stealing my nice new hole cover so I may build something to protect it. Maybe some kind of awning or box-like structure. We took delivery of a bunch of lumber today that we plan to use for the project. We nailed some of it together already but no photos yet.
