Flyers

Post by sideache »

Steve, have you thought about putting together a flyer for the forum? If you do or have, send me a pdf and I'll print them and pass them out at C&C to all the Brit owners.

I thought about taking something to the Channel Islands show but didn't. The forum has been word of mouth so far, although it would be nice to increase traffic more than it has so far. Although I didn't create it for profit, I'm still concerned about people thinking that I'm leeching off their event to promote my own interests. I don't want to step on any toes so I decided not to put any flyers out at the show.

However, C&C is just a gagthering, not an organized or paid event. So maybe it isn't a bad idea! I suppose I could do the same at Supercar Sunday. Hmmm... let me think about this.

Thanks for the thoughts!

Great idea Cliff. Besides you handing out flyers at C&C and Steve at Supercar Sundays, I'm sure there are a lot of us who would love to carry some in our LBC's to hand out to fellow British car enthusiasts that we meet in everyday travels.

Steve, you could end up with a huge turnout for the Labor Day Run this way. Let us know how this goes and I'm ready to run down to your place and pick up some flyers and get started up here in the Central California counties.

Steve, perhaps you can post the flier electronically, and we can print our own to keep in the car in case we run into an interested party...

Ok, done. I've uploaded the flyer in a PDF file. I'd love some feedback if anyone has comments, whether positive or negative.

Before printing some out, could you correct the one spelling error. The flyer states technical advise instead of advice in big letters. In the paragraph following that, advice is spelled correctly, but the big letters where it is wrong really stands out. Minor point, but easy to correct and since many copies will be handed out in the future, you might as well have it right from the start.

The only other thing I would have done is to put a few little pics of some LBC's somewhere on the flyer. Another idea would be to place some small versions of some of Cliff's great artwork on it instead of pictures.

Thanks Wayne, I don't know how I didn't catch that! So much for spelling checkers. I'll fix it right now.

Interesting idea about pictures or artwork. I do want to keep it simple, but maybe something in the lower area would be nice. I'll work on that this evening.

Something like your MG Nuts pic of your 6 MG's would be small, but also add to the idea of grabbing people's attention. The lure of lovely curves always works on me and British cars do have that. Let's show 'em off!!

You can use anything off my site if you like, however photos may be a bit more appropriate.

Thanks, Cliff! That's very kind of you. I'll probably do something more artsy but it may take a while. I might not get it done tonight.

EDIT: Scratch that, new version uploaded. Hopefully it prints well. Just in case it doesn't look good on paper, I will leave the old flyer on the server.

I just looked at the flyer again and saw how you added Cliff's Mini and your MGC GT. That looks pretty good. If you correct the "advise to advice" spelling change, Cliff could still print some flyers out tonight to use tomorrow morning at C&C. You can still change the layout for the future if you aren't finished with it yet, but it would work for Cliff for Saturday.

Did you place the pic of your MGC GT as a reverse image so that it wasn't aimed the same way as Cliff's Mini? I only noticed that because of the reversed lettering on your car.

Sorry for sounding picky about the flyer, but I am just excited to see how the project ends up and figured it was better for us to give you more input than less in helping with the final product.

I might see you guys Sunday if I can get up early enough to get down there by 7AM.

Okay, I'll quit pestering you and go run some laps on Gran Turismo 4's Nurburgring with one of my many classic LBC's in the game. Let's see now, what do I drive? 61 Jag E-Type, 61 Lotus Elan, 64 Ginetta G4, 70 Mini Marcos GT, 71 Lotus Europa Special, 74 Triumph Spitfire 1500......decisions, decisions. :?

Oh man, I added the photos to the old version with the typo! Darn it! Oh well, I know Cliff has already printed and I don't want him to waste paper. For anyone else wanting to print the flyer, the new version is being uploaded now. Sorry Cliff!

I definitely appreciate the input, Wayne. I don't want anyone telling me it's great if it sucks. I'd rather know that it sucks so I can fix it!

I did reverse the GTS and it was too much of a pain to reverse the lettering so I'll do that another time or just take a new photo. I also reversed Cliff's car but the number was easy to swap. Sorry Cliff (again) but I needed it pointing the other way! I can replace the shot later if you like, just no time tonight.

I think it will work fine for this weekend's events. You have done a great job in a very short time and the message getting out to the people is the main thing.

Ok, it's fixed after a minor image crisis. Word decided to omit the GTS image and I spent 10 minutes re-inserting it. Then I found out it was there all along, but Word just didn't feel like showing it to me. Word is the best, worst piece of software out there. Or is it the worst best?

Wow, great job! Thanks! 25 Brit cars is a good turn out. I doubt we will see that many tomorrow. Supercar Sunday is more exotics and American Classics than Brit stuff.
