27th Annual Central Coast British Car Club Teddy Bear Run

Post by Martin Keller »

The 27th annual CCBCC Teddy Bear Run for the Douglas Penfield School in Saticoy, CA. on November 6, 2016 Sunday
The Penfield School is located at; 640 Jazmin Ave. Ventura, CA. 93004.
This has been an annual event for many years for the Central Coast British Car Club.
Not only is this a great driving experience for the participants, it also provides the Douglas Penfield School with new stuffed Teddy Bear toys.
The Toy Bears are distributed to the students at the school’s Christmas Holiday Party in December.
The staff at the school matches the students to the stuffed toy bears according to their individual needs.
The recommended size is approx. 12 inches, not too large and not too small.
We meet at 640 Jasmine Avenue for tire kicking and a photo op of us, our cars and the Bears.
You may arrive anytime from 9-10am.
The school collects the Bears and we leave promptly at 10:00 am on a beautiful drive to a lunch designation.
The drive will be picturesque and may challenge your driving skills if you want to participate at that level.
Otherwise, you will enjoy a gentle drive along with your closest British car enthusiasts.

The Douglas Penfield school serves students from kindergarten to fifth grade with moderate to severe disabilities. Staff use evidenced-based instructional strategies to teach the functional skills that will maximize independence for the students. The staff decides which bear is the best one for each student.

Please consider coming out on Nov. 6th even if you don’t bring a British car.

It is a worthwhile event.
The staff of the school are very appreciative of what we do.

So the Teddy Bear run for the Penfield School today was great as the CCBCC had 19 cars show up and gave the school 50 bears to the school for the kids. The principal said that the stuffed bears are very much appreciated and that the school will make reach is goal again this year of being able to give each of the students at the school a new teddy bear as a holiday gift when they go on break for X-Mass.
Here are some photos of the group at the school today.

The drive after was also a lot of fun as it was 63 miles and went into Ventura on the back roads and then back up to Ojai and then to Santa Paula where we met for lunch as a group.

Great day to spend driving and supporting the kids at the Penfield School.
