Tanny Sighting
At The Rock Inn. He was so consumed with finding a parking spot between the motorcycles that he didn't notice the line of TCs going the other way or me waving at him.

Re: Tanny Sighting
I did see you Steve, but just when you were next to me. I double honked my horn at the next car, waved at him and he waved back. I only saw two cars, were there only you two or were you and the other guy the last two cars in a line of TCs?Steve Simmons wrote:At The Rock Inn. I did have an interesting trip after lunch at the Rock Inn. Through a misunderstanding I ended up on the Old Ridge Route. There were no signs that said it was closed, but it was a little rough and there were a couple of washed out areas that I went over. About 100 feet after the Tumble Inn I found that the road was closed by a Parks service gate. So I turned around and tried to go back but I couldn't get over the first hump.
The parks service was supposed to come and help me get out, but they said they had to go home and it ended up being the fire department in a very angry CHP officer. The firetruck smoothed the bump out just enough for me to get out.

There were several of us but we were a bit scattered at that point. I thought one was right ahead of us but turns out he was somewhere else. Not quite as somewhere else as it appears you were though.

Re: Tanny Sighting
The CHP officer repeatedly said that it was ridiculous that I would take the route and that I was wasting their time. He got mad at me when we were on the maintained road and I pulled over because I had a Charlie horse and I had to walk it off. Maybe I was preventing him from giving out tickets.VWNate1 wrote:As long as no one gets hurt they should be happy, not angry .

Tanny Got Stuck
That Chippie is an unprofessional officer and an embarrassment to the CHP, tell them I said so .
BTW : I'm sorry to have not been around, I've been up to my eyeballs in the 1959 VW Beetle I bought last November, so far it's blown TWO engines ~ the last one in The Panamint Valley as I was headed to Death Valley after 1,000 miles of shake down driving , multiple HOT OIL CHANGES and so on ~ it ran sweetly right until it threw a connecting rod right through the block, destroying it beyond any repair .
So much for a $1,600.00 supposedly rebuilt engine .
I still have the old Mercedes but will need to bring up the rear as it smokes too much .
Looking forward to joining you alls again soon !
