Teddy Bear Run
Douglas Penfield School
640 Jazmin Ave, Ventura, CA 93004, USA
The Douglas Penfield school serves students from kindergarten to fifth grade with moderate to severe disabilities.
For the past 29 years the CCBCC has delivered teddy bears to the school in November. The bears are then passed out to the children at a spaghetti lunch put on in December by volunteers. Each car attending should bring a new teddy bear for each person in your car. Try to keep the bear no larger than 24". After we present the teddy bears we will drive as a group to a restaurant for lunch. The lunch is a no host affaire and directions will be handed out at the school for anyone who wishes to participate. All makes of vehicles are welcome to attend and you do not have to be a member of the CCBCC to take part in this gathering and brunch drive. If you wish to participate please contact Martin Keller at MHKflyer52@outlook.com so a head count can be given to the brunch location. As the event gets closer we will have more details on where we will be going for lunch and anyone who responds will be updated. Hope to see some of the forums member at this event as it is a good cause.

Re: Douglas Penfield School Teddy Bear Run
Hi Nate,
No just delivered the Teddy Bears as it was on a Sunday and the kids where not at school.
We have offered to do that but the schools has said that they can not allow that due to all the requirements required for non-staff to be around the children. Not like the days when we where growing up. The security at the school is very high because of the special needs children as they try to escape if left alone without their aids.

Re: Douglas Penfield School Teddy Bear Run
Thanx .
Some time back my Metropolitan Club did a similar thing and they all whined like babies when they were asked to move the teddy bears to the back seats and give the special needs kids a ride....
How embarrassing .
