It looks like the weather will be excellent...high 60's-low 70's in Malibu and the high will be only 83 in the hottest area of the course (Paramount Ranch/Agoura).

Would you like Malcolm to stop by on the way to the run, or would you rather have it fixed a day or two in advance?spitfire wrote:I am sad because I got lazy and its still not running. I am getting ready to take it to someone to fix the not running problem.
In baseball, running into someone is apparently a "collision".
But doing the same thing in a car somehow makes it an "accident".

A classic car is not mandatory to do the run! Show up anyway, and then jump in someone's extra seat!

Re: 2009 Labor Day Run
Well its currently non-op, the seats and seat belts are removed. The gas tank has been removed and the fuel lines cut (was replacing them anyway due to leaks). So there is a lot to do in a week. On top of which its clear out in Riverside and I live and work next to LAX. My next place needs a garage.
I know that there is probably someone willing to allow me to ride along. The problem would be getting there. Don't think the fiance wants to wake up that early and drive me to malibu. Then wait for me to return. She has decided she doesn't like to be the passenger on these drives.

Re: 2009 Labor Day Run
Dear Mr. Spitfire,
While you may not be a regular reader of Dear Abby (a little known subsidiary of the Abingdon Help Line), we can still offer you some advice.
It seems that you have two choices here - well, actually three - but we'll get to that in a bit.
The first, and most logical choice, would be to get a new fiancee. If your current flame can't deal with taking you to a designated spot, then drink beer while waiting for you to return, you really should consider upgrading. After all, there are still more women than men on this planet so your options are by no means limited.
Secondly, you may want to entertain the thought of buying a functional car.
This approach is particularly appealing in that it would most likely cost you less in the long run, and especially so when compared to bagging a new lady friend, with all the wining and dining costs involved.
As a last suggestion, send your current fiancee off into the sunset in your dysfunctional car. While this would solve two problems at once, please keep in mind that AAA has not only a 7-mile limit on distance, but a four-per-year call maximum.
You may not want to use up those potentially valuable towing occasions quite yet, but more importantly, keep in mind that a pissed off female can easily traverse seven miles in a surprisingly short amount of time.
Good luck,
Abby

Re: 2009 Labor Day Run
Well the fiance is very supportive of the broken car and she is willing to get her hands dirty on it too. So you know, I can't see myself getting rid of her. Besides she also supports my video game hobby.
I am working on locating a working vehicle. However it will be a couple more weeks at this point. Just being sure I have the cash to make it happen.
AAA is on the must buy list once the MG is running.
I could probably talk her into letting me use her car to drive out there on Monday morning, and leave her sleeping all morning. She appreciates sleeping in until noon. Then i could return to her and take her to lunch.

So I just need a start time and location for the labor day run. Will it begin at that shopping center off the PCH?

OK, so if I am able to get out to the start location. Which one of you would like to take me for a ride in your vintage car?

Re: 2009 Labor Day Run
Ahem...uh...not quite sure how to put this, but neither my Beater B or the quick car is driveable at the moment.
The Beater is puking fuel from the rear carb, the oil cooler on the V8 is puking, well, oil.
Depending on which, if any, I get running in time, you're welcome to ride with me.
Otherwise, I'll be standing there hitch hiking with you.
Come to think of it, Tanny has one of those Potential Pick Ups with a big old roof on it, and a rear seat. Surely we can ride with him.
UPDATE:
The Beater B runneth again!
And if someone has a need for some fill dirt (not exactly alluvial, but there are no rocks in it) I now have a spare pile of crud from the float bowl of the rear carb.

Re: 2009 Labor Day Run
Technically the run itself doesn't start until 9AM. 8-9 is tire kicking hour! Starting much later than 9AM risks getting caught in the heat of the day.

Yeah, sorry, I'm working 12 hour days every day, and I'm 3000 miles from home. The route sheet will be posted soon, hopefully tonight.
