I can tell you what it is not. I was thinking late 60's Austin, so after a little research, I've figured out that it's not an Austin:
1800
2200
Maxi
3-Litre
Princess or Vanden Plas Princess
A60 Cambridge
A110 Westminster

Good to rule out those smaller runabouts, but this is a much much more capable package... Here are some of the specs.

Larry,

Of all the cars posted thus far, you should be getting this one. Ask your dad

Yes, Steve is mostly correct. Although I am not so sure about the Gk1 designation. Seems a little fishy to me.

That makes the score:
Gene - 1
Malcolm - 1
Steve - 1
Larry - near miss

And here is that funky Gordon-Keeble badge. Why you would choose a turtle as the mascot for one of the fastest cars is just British? And look at the specs. This car was fast. 0-60 in 6.0 sec and 145 mph.
IMGP2459.JPG
100 produced. 327 Chevy V8 (Corvette engine?) stuffed into a modified Peerless chassis. Not sure I liked the headlights, but overall a good looking car in person. There were a couple on the lawn. Here is an OEW version.

And the OEW badge...

I tee up another candidate later tonight... need to continue glassing the Lotus. This next one won't be easy.

Yay for me! Honestly, I had never heard of Gordon-Keeble until last night. The lead character in the movie I watched drove one. Talk about amazing timing for this mystery car. :)

I've seen a few other cars with very similar front ends but I can't think of them at the moment.

But Gene should only get half a point, since he spelled Messerschmidt incorrectly.
Jimmy, of course you would know how to spell Messerschmidt, weren't you Adolf's neighbor? In fact maybe you fetish about no roofs came from sleeping outdoors with the Hitler youth? :hammer:

Well, I was certainly closer to Germany than most of you guys, but there were a few hundred miles in between - aside from the fact that Sweden is "neutral" (thinly disguised socialism in real life) and with buffer zones such as Denmark in between.
But now that you mention it, the anti-roof thing may be based on that having grown upin a rain/snow forest, one appreciates blue skies and non-rainy days that much more.
Malcolm is obviously an exception to that thought, but that could be explained with the fact that, in his case, living with constant drizzle or rain he simply got used to roofed cars, and is now at too advanced of an age to change.
Either way, I took the top off the '79 "Time capsule" B last night, since it was a bit far gone.
That leaves two MGBs for squirting around in - one with a top which I refuse to put up, and one without.
Life is good.
In baseball, running into someone is apparently a "collision".
But doing the same thing in a car somehow makes it an "accident".

Ok, I'm not afraid to admit that I've never heard of a Gordon-Keeble. The headlights did have me think briefly of Maserati, Peugeot, and Lancia, but it just looked too British to be any of those.

So what years were they made, Dean?

Started the production after the Peerless company folded ~ 1959 with one of the Peerless founders. The prototype was produced in 1960 and taken to Detroit for a test-drive by Zora Duntov. Sufficiently impressed that Chevrolet agreed to supply 1000, 327cu.in. Corvette engine/gearbox units annually as well as full access to the Chevrolet distribution network in the USA.

I guess they didn't need the extra 900+ Corvette engines, and if they had access to the Chevrolet distribution network, you could have tested it against the Corvette, and clinched the deal right there in the Courtesy Chevrolet showroom.

The owner's club contends that all examples are accounted for, so none will be turning up in a barn near you. The knock-on disc wheels and aluminum body give it an Aston feel. It looks fast and light. I couldn't find the weight quoted on any of the reference sites, but I would be shocked if it was over 2,500 lbs. I would not kick it out of the garage. I have no idea what they are worth, but I need one. The Range Rover can park outside.

Here is your Monday challenge. Sunday night came too early.

To win this one you will need to provide the full name (spelled correctly) and year. Points will be awarded if the year quoted if within the years produced.

Good luck.

Wow, I had no idea. Very cool. In my defense, that happened before I was born. :)
BTW, I met Zora Duntov in 1980, got his photo sitting in my dad's '56 Corvette, too. In the history of the Corvette, Duntov is THE Guy! 8)

Hey Dean,
That one is a real brain teaser. I'm torn between a late model prototype Jowett Jupiter, and a mid fifties Allard. I'm just back from the SoCal TT, so am a little tired after two days of absolute driving fun. I hope someone can recognise that car.Definitely not later than mid fifties because of the headlamps, and tail lamps. The wheels definitely look Jowett.

Hi Dean,
On second thoughts, there seems to be a lot of Rover styling cues on this car. It's large enough to seat three across. Could this be a version of the Marauder, built by Rover hierarchy?

Good guesses so far but I am glad to see the group a little stumped for once :)

Maybe these hints will help...
Aluminum body
The company has a racing heritage and legacy

Well, the grill is Triumph-like (TR-3 comes to mind) but it doesn't look like any TR I've ever seen.

Allard palm beach with a really ugly grille? it certainly has a grill that is ...distinctive, like your basic sewer grate.

Hi Dean,
I think it's English because of the lights, I thought, maybe Allard but the split windshield is not right. I'm stumped, and ready for you to put me out of my misery. Yes, I'm prepared to admit defeat! Anyone else feel the same way?
