Midget/Sprite A Frame Bushings ?

Post by VWNate1 »

Who in the L.A. area can be trusted to do this job ? .

My Metropolitan Nash has flopped out rubber bushings and I have Polyurethene ones to go in , just the lower A-Frames for right now but I need it attended to ASAP as I'm hitting the road soon .

Malcom , if you're back and feel like doing this job , give me a ring as I don't want some bozo with no LBC experience mucking about with it .

TIA ,
-Nate

My first thought considering your location would be Monise Motors in Pasadena. Darrin's MG Service in Chatsworth isn't too much farther. Over in Sherman Oaks is Kavanaugh Motors as well.

Is Frank still alive ? I used to work across the street from his shop on Walnut in Pasadena , I remember him and his son going out to Riverside with......? a Lotus ? I forget what .

I don't recall him working on LBC's but that was an eternity ago , I'll go by and ask him .

I drove the Met to-day , it's running sweetly but really needs points ~ the new ones are crapped up and it didn't want to start this morning @ 0-Dark:30 ~ after putzing with it a moment , I dug a clean (and thereby lint free) business card out of my wallet and dragged it through the points a couple times until it came out clean , then it lit right off and ran fine , only to-night right at sunset did it once again refuse to fire so I might not be driving it to-morrow .

I'll be needing a new set of 25D points , if anyone sees some old stock ones in the vendors area , be SURE and drag me over to see them ! .

I can always get them for $8.00 @ NAPA on Monday but I'd like to fix it to-morrow afternoon if I can .

These points were new less than 8,000 miles ago , I'm pissed off they failed so soon .

C U to-morrow !

I believe Frank's son is running the business full time now. I don't know Frank's status.

Hey, if you can get the Met running well enough to get to the show, we can always pop some points in it on the spot. I probably have some new Lucas points laying around I can bring. They aren't the best quality but seem to work fine. I have a set in more than one car.

O.K. , maybe I'll give it a go in the morning , I wanted to leave well before sunup (around 04:00) and run some errands , go home to my dogs and unload the crap I filled it with to-day but maybe I'll just buzz it up the I-405 instead , I assume you have a test light or dynamic timing light ? I don't have one in the car .
