My wife's 2000 Toyota Solara will have to have the timing belt replaced in 5,000 miles. I talked to Hamer Toyota and they said without checking that the water pump should be replaced as well as a few other items and it will cost $1,200 to $1,300. Being out of work right now, I'd like to not spend that much money, well even if I was working I wouldn't want to spend that much money.
Any good Toyota mechanics in the San Fernando valley? I live in North Hollywood.

I guess you didn't know about this when the cash for clunkers gig was still going on?

I own this car, with cash for clunkers I would have car payments. I think it's better not to have payments. Before I was laid off I was trying to pay down my mortgage. I don't like debt.
