Chrome / Zinc Plating - Southern California

Post by HealeyBN7 »

I would like to broaden my options for re-plating various parts.

The current challenge is to find a reasonable shop that can re-chrome the rear tail light housings for the Europa S2 (same as or similar to the e-Type V12, and used on the Elan). The pot metal surrounds are pitted. One more than the other, but pitted none the less, so a little filling and restoration is required, in addition to the lay up of plating products.

New tail lights are available below and through other sources, so I know what the max limit is on what I should pay.

I used Faith Plating for the windshield surround in the Healey. I thought the price was heavy, but I didn't shop around, or really know of any other sources. The quality was ok, but I didn't go for the "show chrome", which is likely the difference in good and perfect.

I also have several parts that need to be zinc plated. I tried the Eastwood zinc plating kit and initially liked the results, but after several years I am now completely unimpressed as many of the parts will need to be redone.

Recommendations appreciated. - thanks Dean

I've heard top notch reviews of Christensen Plating Works in Vernon. I haven't used them myself though. Their web site leaves a bit to be desires but here it is anyway: http://christensenplating.com/index.html
