Machine Shop in Riverside area

Post by spitfire »

Since my MG is in Riverside I think it would be best to take to someone out there. Does anyone know of a good machine shop in that area?

What do you need done? APT is perhaps the best there is for engine work, but they are not the cheapest nor the fastest.

getting the head machined and magnafluxed

I only get weekends with the car, so if they take more than a week thats fine. i need to order replacement hoses anyway, to ensure that I get rid of any dry or cracked hoses. Throughout the car.

Crap that website is nasty. The site says they are working on a new site, but the whats new link hasn't been updated since 2002.

I don't know what APT charges, but a full head job with magnaflux cost me about $200 at a place in Chatsworth. If you want the best, send it to Sean Brown at Flowspeed in Oregon. But, you may want to magnaflux locally first so you don't waste shipping.

Neither is APT Fast! May as well call them for a quote I suppose. Malcolm also has a place in Temple City, so that's another option that isn't too far away.

spitfire,

I have a spare MGB head that is ready to be installed that I would part with for $500 US Dollars if that helps. I was going to replace the head on another MGB engine that I had because I thought it had a cracked head but when I pulled the engine and then pulled the head I found that I needed a complete new engine and I had already purchased the rebuilt head so if this interest you send me a PM and I will get back to you.
