King Pin and Steering Rack rebuilder?

Post by Steve Simmons »

I'm looking for someone who can rebuild early MGB king pins and steering racks, and is within driving distance of Woodland Hills. I know of people out of the area but I'd rather not ship anything if I can help it.

Hi Steve,

Moss Motors in Goleta can replace those parts over the counter for you and it is a nice drive up the coast.

Another source might be the following:
Wellwood Auto Restoration, Inc.
1587 Morse Ave, Unit C
Ventura, Ca. 93003
805-469-7842

Hope this helps.

I've considered simply replacing with Moss rebuilds, but these parts have been on the car for 42 years and 310,000 miles and I'm kind of attached to them! :) Thanks for the info, I'll keep it handy for when I'm ready.

King Pins

Post by JustBrits »

Steve, 1st Hello!!

2nd my 1st 'post' so I can be added to "approved members" :) !!

There are very few businesses that can actually re-build King Pins as they LACK the proper stepped reamer and most shops are NOT interested in shelling out OVER $370 for just a few jobs per year (for some reason or another  ).

That said, I DO offer the service (usually try to keep a set in stock and ready to ship).

Please contact me DIRECT AND off-board at:

Hi Ed, thanks for the note! I found more time and finally rebuilt them myself. Well, technically I have 1.75 king pins rebuilt and the steering rack in pieces on the floor but I'm getting there. So much to do on that car and so little time to do it!
