I haven't used them for engine rebuilds, but two shops who are close to you are Darrin's MG Service and Checkered Flag. Joe of Checkered Flag is a member here (user name Joseph P Siam). If you want to go a bit farther, Dave Wellwood is also an active member here (user name wellwoodautorestoration) and has a shop in Ventura that is highly spoken of. Another option I've heard good things about is frank Monise Motors in Pasadena. Of course there is Dave Anton of APT Fast in Riverside but that's a hike, and he isn't the fastest nor the cheapest. I hope this helps a little bit.

Thanks for the replies,

I have bought parts from Checkered flag and Darrin's, I was looking more for a Machine shop that can do MG engine work Most of the wok I can do myself. I have used a machine shop in Simi that does this type of work, but they mainly work on american cars, they do good work just not sure if they are the ones to use.

Joe, Thanks for the offer to help.

Thanks
Glenn

I had a head done at RD Machine in Chatsworth once. He seems to have done a good job. Reportedly he does a lot of Darrin's machine work.

Not sure what is close or far for you...

It has been a few years, but I dropped off the big heavy parts for my Healey at:

Rebco Machine Shop
Street: 3097 Los Feliz Dr
Thousand Oaks, ca 91362-3412
Phone: (805) 496-0823

They took care of the head, block line bore, balancing, etc and sent the crank out for polishing.

By all accounts they seem to have done a respectable job. I did the final assy. Each time I would stop by and check on progress or drop off parts, they always took the opportunity to rib me about the "sports-car-ness" weight of the block.

I would think any quality machine shop should be able to handle the basics. These engines have very broad specs. My most important selection factor was finding someone who was in business a long time, would not lose my parts, and trustworthy.
