Topic for submitting fun runs

Post by tannyo »

Hi Steve,

How about a new topic for fun runs that members can submit? It should of course have "use at your own risk and roads may be closed, ..." disclaimer.

Nate mentioned a run in one of his replies, I'd like to be able to take the run. If there were a place to post the run, then members could take them at their own leisure.

Anyone can start a topic, so you could simply post a new one for each run, or start a topic where people can continually add whatever they like. If there's something special you would like, other than a regular discussion topic, I'm all ears!

Sorry for the confusion, I meant a main topic like General Chat, Technical Discussion, Vendor Recommendations, Classified Ads and Forum Feedback and Announcements not a topic under the main topics.

I second that idea, for a new forum group. So that routes can be posted and checked by others. With updates occasionally.

Here's the deal... I'm always reluctant to add a new item-specific forum because this forum is so small by design, that it doesn't really warrant it. In general, the more people have to jump around to read new messages, the less likely they are to participate in all of the discussions. I do like the idea, I just need to look at the figures and decide if or how it should be done.

If we add a new forum just for discussing runs, I would most likely want to eliminate one to keep things simple. Both "Technical Discussion" and "Vendor Recommendations" see very little traffic, but they also serve a function. Technical Discussion gives a dedicated place for work out problems, and Vendor Recommendations allows easier searching of resources than would be possible if it were all lumped into General Chat.

I'm open to thoughts or ideas on the subject.

I guess it depends how you use the forum. I for one use a bookmark that always drops me in to see all new posts. So I will see the other areas only when there is a new post. It would be cleaner to sort posts this way. But Steve you are right there is not a lot of traffic. So either way will work for me. I'll see the them just as fast either way.

Hate to admit my stupidity (although my son loves to admit my stupidity all the time), I don't think that I have ever seen any part of this website other than the General Chat.

I have been hit in the head a few times. Maybe that's....oh look, a skunk.

Well Scott, for starters go here: http://www.vintagemotoring.net

Then click on "Discussion Forums" and you'll see a list of all the forums, five of them. Then you can come back here and tell us how to make it better. ;)

Remember you can always click on the title at the top, or on the "Forum Index" tab, to take you back to the front of the forum. But you have to click "Site Home" to go all the way back to the main page of the site.
