10-06-09: No News Is Good News

Post by Steve Simmons »

Well, it's been one day shy of a year since the last site announcement so I guess that means things are working smoothly. Updates have been made occasionally for security and performance but nothing you should notice.

One minor annoyance I finally solved was in the "Random Image From The Gallery" side bar on the Vintage Motoring front page. Some photo thumbnails were displayed out of proportion but that is finally working correctly.

I've also increased the number of those images from one to four to make things more interesting. Hopefully it doesn't affect anyone's loading times. In theory it should make little to no difference.

As always, if there is anything that I can do to make the forum better in the way of features, layout, etc, please let me know!

Thanks Steve. It is also nice to be on a site that has an active admin. I don't know how you find the time to attend to all that you do, but thanks creating this space.

After ironing out all of those bugs a year ago, it has been working smooth from my view. No problems on the iphone either.

I agree. You couldn't make it much better, Steve.
With one exception; How about a series where, say, every three months or so you'd show how to decapitate roofed cars.
Perhaps starting with the MGB GT, then a Jaguar Mk II, and so on.
Eventually most all models would be covered (no pun intended) and the owners could finally enjoy open air motoring.

By the way, I know know from experience that in an MGB you won't get wet even in a heavy thunderstorm, as long as the speed exceeds about 50 mph. That is no problem to achieve around here - I believe the nearest stop light is some 100 miles away. And since it never rains in SoCal, driving topless shouldn't be an issue there, either.

I do wish that after a year of owning the Beater B I had checked if the wipers work, though.
They do, but the arms are about 1/2-inch to long, so the blades got stuck against the top of the windshield frame.
However, without a roof it was simply a matter of reaching up over the windshield to get the wipers unstuck again.
In baseball, running into someone is apparently a "collision".
But doing the same thing in a car somehow makes it an "accident".
