Wanted: OD Trans and 5 main Engine

Post by brett »

Looking for an OD trans and also looking for an 5 main engine for my 72 GT.

My engine is tired and I want an OD for commuting to work on the 405...

Thanks

Brett

I am in Orange County, CA...

I assume you want local? I do know of an OD transmission but it's in the northwest. Shipping would probably be $100.

Thanks for the help. If the price is close to a local deal and is in good shape then it would work for me...

Are you going to Cars & Coffee on Saturday?

Turns out these are 3-sync transmissions. You undoubtedly want 4-sync. Sorry!

I know of MG shops with engines laying around for rebuild, if that's what you're after.

I can't make it to C&C this weekend. We have a big club event that morning.

Yeah the later type is preferred for it's robustness...

These things are getting rare! I took it for granted in my 71 that I sold to my cousin for $500 back in 97...

Maybe I should look into a Rivergate 5 speed conversion, but I'd much rather stick with a stock OD setup...

I can't argue with that. A 5-speed is great from a technological point of view, but you give up a large part of the vintage driving experience. It's too much of a loss for me.

Patience!!! I will find one!

I'm not ready yet to do the motor so it would probably just sit until I can get to the bottom end.
