Wanted- B-series 1622 or three bearing 1800

Post by whitebuffalo »

Along with my other car, Singer Gazelle, I have a 1956 Austin A50 and am after more power!!!!! Ok, more than power is the fact that the occasional drive on a freeway for a long distance show or event. A B-series BMC 1622 or three bearing BMC 1800 will bolt directly to my column shift transmission. I have been told a five bearing 1800 would work if I do a rear plate conversion, not sure how that works, however it is an option if others fail.

I don't have one available, but there was a 1622 on Craigslist recently for $300. Might still be advertised somewhere.

Not on Craig's list now. One 1600 up in San Fransisco area and same person selling a 1622 for $1500. Not sure if the 1600 is a bored out 1500? Will keep looking as driving up to SF really doesn't sound like a fun trip in the heat

I’m in Sausalito today and tonight and come home tomorrow. Do you want me to pick something up for you on the way down?
