Free MG 1800 MGB

Post by Fifty Six MGA »

Free. Exact condition unknown, but appears complete.

I bought it 6-7 years ago to rebuild for my MGA but it appears that is a long time from happening and I'm tired of it being in the way in my overstuffed garage.

It's on a stand. That's included. I don't have a hoist, so plan accordingly when picking up.

Hi Jeff, nice to hear from you! Do you know what type it is, or from what year? If it's 65-67 then I'd be interested. I just drove through your area this morning, too.

Steve, I don't know. I think the 65-67 would be the three main, right? I don't think it's that from my foggy memory.

I'm still driving the MGA from time to time, but not as much as I'd like. With 2 kiddos it's hard.

The number on the engine tag would be a good start. I'd be interested if it's 18GB. There is also a date code on the block.

So that's a late 60's through early 70's engine. Not exactly what I'm after but if no one else needs it then I can give it a home.

Probably '69 or '70. I wouldn't mind having it as a spare for my car, but I don't have room for it.

12.3

I Assume it's gone ? .

If not try MGCars.org, there you'll be able to get at least $200 for it in a flash .

GH is an early five main bearing 1800 engine .

The cylinder head is newer as it has the A.I.R. holes (blocked) so it ma y have larger valves, a good thing for performance .

Is it still available? I might be able to use it on my A50. Guy who has a three bearing seems to be taking for ever to locate the parts and I think I'd be able to get a backing plate from Moss to adapt it to my A50 transmission.

I have two that are rebuildable, not free, contact me off list please .

One has the cylinder head on it, both have been out side for years and will need new pistons etc.
