Free MGB in Torrance 1976

Post by gorms68 »

I just saw this one listed, grab it quick. Hey folks,

I've got too many projects and not enough room. As long as you can cart the beast away, it's yours All the info is at the site below. If you have any questions about the car, I'll do my best to answer them (I'm a VW guy, not an MG guy).

I have no connection with the seller, just passing this along.

let me talk to my woman, she is still sleeping. But I think I may be interested. I take it the motor is currently not starting. I see that it also needs a new interior (seats, panels, etc.)

I see this two ways. First, it's local, it's free and it's registered. If you have a way to bring it home then you can't go wrong. You will need a place to park it of course. The other way to look at it is that it's a smog year and might take a lot to get running, and especially to pass a smog test. Then again it could just have a bad coil or something stupid like that. It wouldn't be my first choice since it's subject to smog restrictions but you can always play with it for a while, making improvements, and then sell it later on to get something pre-smog. If that car were running and cleaned up a bit, you might get a couple grand for it. Of course it could take more than that to get it running, but there are enough mechanically-minded people around here to figure out what it needs. Let us know what you decide!

Yeah, thats what I figure. This is a great community with a lot of MG enthusiasts that tinker with their own cars. The girlfriends parents are cool with using their garage for a project since they don't use it for their own cars. Would just need to rent a trailer and borrow their truck to get it out to Riverside.

The downside is this will require weekends in riverside if I go through with it.

You have a place to keep it and the price is right. Just call him right now and say you'll take it. You can always change your mind and give it to someone else. Honestly, it may not take "weekends" to get running. A couple hours might be enough to make it roadworthy. You can do small projects in your driveway. I'm starting to think that if you don't take it, I will! ;)

Well I got first dibs on this thing apparently. So he called me and i will pick it up tomorrow. Now to get a uhaul trailer for the thing, and maybe a truck.
Sometimes a plan is needed. But who knew it would turn out this way.
