1966 MGB-GT For Sale

Post by James Ritchie »

For Sale is a 1966 MGB-GT. British Racing Green [paint is in good condition, a 6.5 to 7 footer], w/overdrive, newer tires [approx. 6,000 miles], great looking chrome and very fresh interior [tan leather seats and tan panels/headliner], and handling is great.

Some information about the engine: engine has a spin on oil filter adaptor and an aluminum valve cover, with a coolent overflow tank.

The ignition is electronic with a Pertronix [HA!}

Almost new front calipers and pads.

Minilite style knockoff 15" wheels.

Exhaust features a glass pack with a twin tip resonator [sounds mean but not hateful!]

A very nice Alpine CD stereo [that will skip on bumpy roads-no extra charge], with speakers built into the bulkhead behind the driver and passenger.

I have been on a few "fun runs" sponsored by the Vintage Motoring Club, and so you might have seen the car there. It is an older restoration where the body was stripped down and painted from the inside out, so there is little to give away its original color - I'm not sure but I think it was Grampian Gray!

And, a basket full of extra parts! e.g., original air filter housings; tail light housing with lucas lenses; new radiator hose, etc.

Please check out the pictures; I'll let them speak for themselves. AND NO! you do not get the beaded seat cover or the A/C system [a $15 Kmart cig. lighter fan... don't laugh, it works pretty well!]

$8,500

That looks like a very nice GT, James.
Would you like me to help cut the roof off of it so that you don't need to sell it, or would you consider trading for a '70 Tourer?
In baseball, running into someone is apparently a "collision".
But doing the same thing in a car somehow makes it an "accident".

Moving to another car, James? I've seen your car a few times on the VM runs and it looks great!

Thanks Jimmy, but for now I need one fewer car and the space that it will make... and the space it will fill, i.e. the bank account!

In a way Steve, I am. I really need to get the Morris up and running [it is all together but has a persistent timing issue that I cannot resolve] AND the Opel GT needs some attention... $$$!

James, that sounds awfully familiar to me.
But, for some odd reason I now lust for a GT.

Jimmy, I can't believe you said that in public. Or maybe you don't necessarily long for a GT, but rather an MG pickup truck. :wtf:

[off topic]
Jimmy, I just saw your postings on the "Free 14" Wire Wheel" post and the comments on Death Valley. My family and I have been taking our vacations there for the past five years - a truly gorgeous and special place! We are scheduled to go again in early November; we're not quite desert rats enough to challenge the "Valley" in summer though!

James, I believe you meant Nate's posting.
I'm nowhere near as tough as Nate, and think even November is a bit early to visit Death Valley.

And Steve, not sure why I'd want to try a GT. Maybe to end up making a pickup? Or because I never had one?
In the interim, I might try running the Beater B as a "mini pickup", with a hardtop and the trunk lid removed.
Either way, this is not a particularly "public" place - and nobody would ever suspect that I would be looking at a GT for sale, so I should be safe.

Oops, I goofed again.
For some reason I was thinking of a Pacer. Which, of course, is very similar to an MGB GT, except that someone would have to sneeze inside a GT before it truly looked like a Pacer.
Also, I believe that Pacers never came with 4-bangers, but rather with inline Sixes and V8s, just like some GTs.
