MGA Disc Brake Conversion

Post by Steve Simmons »

I've picked up a set of MGA 1600 disc brakes and plan to install them on my 1500 to replace the front drums. They will be going into the car soon along with a rebuild of all brake and clutch rubber parts.

First step was to get the MC sleeved, along with my spare.

I haven't finished rebuilding all the disc brake components yet. I've only painted the suspension parts and turned the rotors. So they will wait a while, since the wife is rightfully complaining about how long the car has been unavailable to her.
:hammer:

Once the hydraulics are rebuilt and working, I'll get the rest of the parts done and swap the brakes themselves.

Just for fun, my other project this week is the garage itself. I picked up a couple of those mega-sale Craftsman boxes last week and have moved them in. I'm planning to mount a wood top on them for use as a workbench and base for power tools. Here is a photo of how it sits at the moment. The drill press (which is nearly finished being restored) is not fitting as well as I like and I'm really afraid that I may have to replace it with a floor model.

Brake parts...right up my alley. :)
So let's recap, the TC is down, the MGA is down, and the B roadster is down. Hmmm...sounds a bit like AADD (Automotive Attention Deficit Disorder).
I look forward to seeing any of them back on the road.

P.S. I've got garage cabinet envy...

The TC is still up and running! I'm waiting to get the MGA done before I tear into it.

That's right, I forgot you had a pending, not current, project on the TC. It looks like you're pretty close on the MGA brake project.

Absolutely!
Could it wait until early November?
In baseball, running into someone is apparently a "collision".
But doing the same thing in a car somehow makes it an "accident".

Well, since this posting is about motivating others to take on and complete their car projects, lets stick to positive reinforcement. With that in mind, I'm confident that you'll get it done as soon as you're able, Steve.
Besides, if you don't you'll have Linda to answer to!
