Got the head off the engine today and confirmed it's been rebuilt at least once in the past. The water jacket is pretty rusty and all of the ports to the head were blocked. I'm glad I didn't run it to long. The head looks pretty good and might just need a good cleaning however the intake on 4 looks like it's hit something at some point in its past. The engine has been bored out to 40 over and it looks like the job has some miles on it. Not much crosshatching visible and it looks like a bit of rust pitting has formed over the years.

Just about have the engine stripped down and just need to pull the front and rear main caps. Crank is 10/10 and most of the bearings looked great however #4 rod bearing was down to copper. More importantly the wheels finally came in :D

Unless I'm mistaken, Realm and Racemettle offer the same wheels. Very nice, always wanted a set.

Went out and installed one of the new wheels on the car and thankfully they fit. The rear fender lips have been rolled and the rust repairs finished. Picked up the manifold and head pipe finally some nice clean items going on the shelf.

The side to check is the drivers rear tire. The fender is closer to the tire on that side. And that is driver's side for a left hand drive North America MGB.

Nice header, very clean.

Chris,

At the rate Stewart is progressing, I'd recommend waiting a few more months before asking for it back. You'd have a complete car.

Took a quick trip out there today after spending a rather short amount of time at the dmv getting a set of yom plates approved. At some point in the past someone spent a lot more time to fix a rust issue incorrectly and did a very good job at hiding it vs fixing it correctly fairly quickly.

You've gone this far, so now you don't really have to keep the previously applied red since it's a simple matter to spray the empty engine bay. Not that red is a bad color or anything, just that there are so many color options that look great on a BGT.

Don't worry Steve the engine bay is going to be done as well along with the trunk area though it will still be red.

Getting closer to being fully primed.

Steve or anyone else who knows Guillermo might want to stop by his shop as there is a 36 Bentley that just came in with a custom all aluminum body that is absolutely stunning and the body work hasn't started yet.
