Another new project of mine 1956 Austin A50

Post by whitebuffalo »

Here is my new project along with my Morris Traveller. It is a 1956 Austin A50 Cambridge. It has a factory 1500 B-series motor with rare overdrive transmission. Suspension is the same as what is on the big Austin-Healeys. Along with the car came a spares car that will donate a modified five bearing MGB 1800 motor adapted to fit with the column shift transmission. I will also add TR6 wheels for a wider stance.

Bonnet scoop is functional to direct air to the fresh air vents in cabin and heater.

I love it ! .

Those Lucas Wind Tone horns are very nice indeed and can usually easily be brought back from dead .

Where the heck do you find these things ?! .

Maybe I don't want to know :hammer: .

They seem to come to me out of the ether. This one came from the same guy I bought my Riley One Point Five from. Two features I really dig are the rear end design and the functional hood scoop. The scoop directs air into the heater/fresh air vents, but a little modification could help to bring fresh air into the carb.

I wish I had the open space you do ! .

I have passed on several old Austin Sedans found in various Deserts , all were worth saving IMO .

Truth be told I'm so broken up I have difficulty keeping up with my current fleet but these are neat and remind me of growing up in the late 1950's near Boston / Cambridge , both being College Towns so more Imports than you could shake a stick at .

Please keep up the good works and keep posting ! .

I've never really perused the Restoration Blogs pages before .
