Stewart's 75 MGB

Post by Stewart »

Should of started a thread about this a while ago. My 75 is being redone/refreshed after 11 years. Had a few rust issues and paint bubbling issues not related to rust that were getting worse.

Plans so far

Repaint the body while modifying it like the 67. Seams have been deleted and fender beads removed. Bumpers will have the turn signal holes filled in and both properly fitted to the body.
Engine will be built to take full advantage of the supercharger.
Interior will be completely redone including dash
Electrical system completely replaced and I'm sure a few odds and ends.

Hi Stewart,

So what color is this one going to be when it is finished.
Looks like the shop is in the final stages of blocking before the application of color.

Right now mineral blue is a good possibility. Just waiting on color samples as mineral is all over the place shade wise.

Hi Stewart,

Mineral Blue is a great color. It was one of the colors that I had originally considered for my GT6 before finding the original color under the dash pad when taking it apart.

It should look good in any color you decide on.

Color looks a bit lighter in person and should lighten up in the sun. Weird color to photograph

Just waiting on the windshield to come back from being polished and anodized so I can assemble it which I'm really looking forward to. Doors are about done and then it's on to the interior.

If anyone needs a windshield the one that was in the frame is good with no chips or cracks however has the normal pitting one would expect after 40k miles. Its the clear triplex non modified corners.

How is the car coming along now? I'm always impressed by the speed at which you get things done. My car to-do list is 1/1000 as ambitious and takes 50 times longer than yours.

It's currently at the upholstery shop and it should be going back to the body shop in the next week or 2 for the final polish. After that I'm not sure where it's going to go as things here are a bit messy thanks to the lovely people at socal edison.

I took some pictures of Stewart's car. The blue looks really nice and for some reason changes hue depending on whether the car is in the sun or even the time of day. The interior color also seems to change depending on where the car is located. The interior is actually black leather with blue piping.
