Aha! I now know the weakness in your armor.
But you'll never know when I might sneak up armed with a rag and some Simonize.
In baseball, running into someone is apparently a "collision".
But doing the same thing in a car somehow makes it an "accident".

That's probably an even worse threat than the sawzall. Mindyou they're both pretty bad.

Hmm, that gave me an idea...
If I apply wax to a portion of your roof, you just might get disgusted enough to cut it off yourself.

Well I got a bonus from work that was pretty decent and my wife is encouraging me to get the 76 on the road. You have to love a woman that knows we have other things we could spend the money on (like diapers and wipes for the new baby) and she insists on getting an old car on the road.

So I am putting out feelers to get some progress on this and no longer try and do it myself.

Well today I went in for a set of Khumo's and walked out the door with a set of Pirelli P4's for no extra charge and at the internet price for the Khumo's.

Next stop will be Malcolm's to get the thing on the road. That will happen next week. I want to thank Malcolm for taking on the project.

So ;

Are Pirelli's better than Khumos then ? .

I know bupkis about modern tires , my son insisted I put Falken LT's on my new (old) truck , I must say they seem to handle the road better than did my old Dayton LT's .

Please elucidate and tell us where you bought good tires affordably .

I really like Khumo tires I have had them on other cars in the past. They perform well and offer quite a bit of grip. Pirelli's are generally a more expensive tire and have a softer compound which results in a more grip and good performance on the road.

The shop had an inventory issue, where their actual inventory didn't match their computer, so they didn't have 4 tires like they were supposed to have. So they upgraded to the P4 at no additional charge, which essentially is going to a more premium tire.

So, my headlights went out a little over a year ago, and i thought it was the switch. Found the connector at the stalk to be brittle and charred. Flash to Pass still worked, but Low and High did not. So after getting all new stalks, and a new light switch. I gave in and went for a new wiring harness for the whole car. Then I let it sit for over a year. Occasionally going in and cutting out wires.

I have now found some time to get going again. Got the dash off today and the bezel on the tach popped off (well twisted off). So I decided I needed to refurbish it. Did the aluminum rub down and it looks fantastic. However the material between the glass and bezel was dried and cracking and completely lost. What is that material and is it easy to replace? Because I am about to clean all of the bezels and I am sure that they are all the same.

I am going to be getting the wiring completed and will be putting it up for sale after it is done. I am sure I will get into another old British car later, but at this time apartment living doesn't work well with a car project.

Its not really a lack of interest. More a second baby, a small apartment without a place to park a third car, that is a project, and insure a third car. Also the in-laws are tired of garaging it. I will get it up and running though. Who knows maybe the getting it running will allow for it to stay in the family.

I also noticed when removing the dash that the steering wheel mount is broken. One bolt is at a crazy angle. If anyone has that part for cheap or closer to free I would to repair that part.

The more I have been working on the MG this week the more I want to keep her. I have just finished cleaning up all of the gauge bezels and found a source for the replacement rubber gaskets. I have removed all of the wiring and next up is figuring out where to put the Advance Auto Wire power block. I also discovered that the positive battery cable had been worn to bare metal just outside of the battery box. So that will also have to be replaced, At this time I am not rewiring the dash or the ends to the lights. So I should have it all installed in the next couple of days. I will post pics here in just a moment of that progress.
