Hey Larry,
I'm down to only two projects.

1965 Cobra replica with Webers, I swear it isn't currently this dirty.

Wow Matt, you've got me beat by a mile!

Anyone else thinking what I'm thinking? VM Garage Tour? 8)

And don't forget, when you post photos of your cars in the "Post a picture of your ride" thread (hint hint), include your projects as well! :D

Great idea Steve,
I'm all over a Garage tour. My wife Suzy even said she would make a little something if we can pull off a progressive tour type thing. :D

Let's do it.

I guess we'd have to figure out where all the people are who are willing to have a garage tour, and then schedule two or three in one day. Unless anyone else has ideas...

You gotta move those (real) horses out of your workshop, Matt...

Hmmm, a garage tour. I like the idea, but my garage has a severe case of square-footage envy.

Larry, your garage is bigger than my garage! Mine is simply taller.

I guess that's true. You've got a better ratio, though...5 cars:2-car garage vs. my 4 cars:3-car garage. But who's counting.

I better get busy and improve my car/garage space ratio. I want a lift... or two so I can get a few extra.

matstng's Cobra Build

Post by matstng »

It's been a while but I thought I'd stop in and give an update on my build.

I tore the Cobra back down, painted the chassis and started the final assembly. A motor change has also occurred, replacing the 5.0 with Webers for a 399ci 351W roller est. at 475HP. I hope to have the motor started by the end of the year.

Any further disscussion on the Garage Tour? I need ideas for mine.

Hey Matt, nice progress! Garage tours keep coming up from time to time. I think we need an official thread on the subject!

Thanks guys....
After painted the motor (2 stage) reassembly has begun. I was able to get one head on last night before I had to go to bed in an attempt to kick a cold.
I hope to get the other side on tonight along with the pan and valve covers so I can get it sealed up.

Larry,
I know a guy who knows a guy that used to be a second cousin to the deburring manager's third wife's ex-brother in law.... :D

Update pics.
I've made a little more progress on the Replica hoping to have it on the road in March.

Body on to check for places to hide the MSD box.

Motor in, I took the Alt apart for a two stage paint job to match the motor.

Even though I've just sold this one and it's getting painted the new owners color (Highland Green) I thought I'd post a pic of a big car. :D
It's got a 5.0 EFI and T5 from a 1990 Mustang (great driver) The new owner plans on using it as a daily driver.

Thanks Steve,
On a good note and to try to make myself feel better, I found a 1973 TR6 I'm interested in buying. :D

Nice looking car, rebuilt motor, overdrive, very clean interior. I'll keep you guys posted but I may not be able to see it for another week or two because the owner wants to have his mechanic check a couple of things before he shows it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Love the Bullitt green color, Matt.

I still think with your love of Mustangs and Cobras, that a Sunbeam Tiger is the perfect British car for you. Fun, fast, good looking roadster with a factory installed small block Ford. :drive

I've made a little more progress on the Cobra.
Rear suspension is in

Fuse box mounted

It's about time to start the wiring..... One of my least favorite parts of the build. I've had to redo the fuel line, after mounting the lower arm I realized it was waaaay to close and needed to be redone.
13" Wilwood brakes should be on the rear this week. (Plug) :D

I got the Cobra started on Sunday!!!! I was hoping to have it drivable by this weekend but the new halfshafts didn't fit tonight. :(
I'll need to get the correct ones ordered and try again for next week. The biggest bummer was I need to have the car on the ground this weekend for the AHA show in Pomona on Sat. and was hoping I'd be able to frive it into the trailer. Not!
I'll post more pics and maybe a start video soon.
