My new project

Post by malcolmr18zoy »

Well, I have a new project car, and I'm very excited about it. It's a 1959 MGA 1600 coupe. It does need a little TLC, but will nice when done. Pictures enclosed.

I think that car needs more than a little TLC, but it's certainly in the right place to receive it. I'm going to follow this project with great interest. :)

Malcolm, I apologize. You know I am fond of your Mk1, since you keep it in perfect mechanical shape and drive the wheels off it, leaving the looks in the "wax free" natural state. My TC is in similar condition, but it cannot keep up with you driving the Mk1.
The MGA coupe will be a nice driver for your considerable stable of cars. Might I suggest though, that your collection is so heavily British; perhaps your next car should be French to add a little variety? perhaps a 4CV- in similar shape as the MGA coupe

Hi Gene,
Well funnily enough, I've been looking at a '57 2CV in similar, but more complete, shape to the MGA! A Renault 4CV would also be interesting to me. Do you know of one for sale? Oh, by the way, you can insult my cars as much as you like, I enjoy it. Why do you think I stay friends with Jimmy?

That's neat Malcolm. I really like the coupe version of the MGA. Where did you find it?

Hi Larry,
Well I got it from Kelvin Dodd, up in Ojai. I've also got a bunch of spare parts for the rebuild. My plan is to build a car that is loosely based on the 1961 Sebring cars.

Oh, is that where I've seen those concave grilles?
Guess they were functional both for absorbing more cooling air and aerodynamically.
In baseball, running into someone is apparently a "collision".
But doing the same thing in a car somehow makes it an "accident".

I think the 1961 MGA Sebring Coupe looks cool. Especially the color.

Hi Nate,
BRG is probably my first choice, or possibly OEW, as that was the original colour.
Tom,
So I guess you know Kelvin.

Hi Malcolm
I have finished the resto on my 58 coupe. Any questions you have I would be more than happy to help you out with. The more coupes saved the better as a few years ago it was common to cut up them up to restore the roadsters.
