Need Upholstery Shop

Post by Steve Simmons »

Looking for an upholstery shop, preferably in or near Culver City. They need to understand how to properly install a cloth tonneau on an MGA. All suggestions welcome!

Hi Steve,

Give Dave Wellwood a call as he has an Upholstery shop that he uses and his clients seem to be even more picky than you in my belief.

805-469-7842 shop

I am surprised you can not order one from Moss or PJM in England. Must be that time is a major factor.

Steve I made the mistake of taking my old worn out vinyl tonneau to Rich and Famous Auto tops in Van Nuys, who did an excellent copy, but my fault, the old vinyl version was not a good template at best, so now have a floppy 'too' loose cover. Need to find an excuse to replace it with a nice tight replacement. I reckon they could do exactly what I want if I took the car to their shop and we custom figured it out on the spot. Their stiching was good and they found a much better zipper than original........thats key.

I had existing studs (or holes) in my car when I bought it, for a tonneau cover. I bought one of the Moss covers, in Stayfast if I recall correctly.

I had a shop in Pasadena install the LTD fasteners to match the existing fixtures. I think they did a pretty good job of getting a good tension on it.

Thanks, I know of those shops (actually had a bad experience with R&F) but I was looking for someone closer to Culver City.

Chris, I'm ordering one from Moss but the snaps and all that have to be installed and I won't be available to do it myself.

Steve,

Did you take care of this or do you still need a shop? I know of a good shop in Tarzana.

It's taken care of, and they messed it up! Installed all the lift-the-dots either sideways or backwards and the rear corners are loose. Not my problem though, someone else was paying for it!
