Black Friday Run
I made a comment on the fire discussion and am presuming that there isn't going to be a run this time. If anything changes, please let me know.

Re: Black Friday Run
That’s what I presumed but had to ask anyway.
I hope you are doing great and didn’t have any lasting effects from the fire.
Let me know if there’s something I can do for you.

Re: Black Friday Run
Okay. Who wants to go on a run? Will it be Friday or Saturday? I’m thinking since we didn’t do the Old World Run in April, why not now? It may be a little cold, but it’s not ravaged by fire.

Re: Black Friday Run
I think that because of the fire and possibly the floods, the area will not be open for sightseeing and enjoyable driving so, I think that we should either go somewhere else or not go at all. Steve has said that he may not make it and IF I go, I will be all alone.

Re: Black Friday Run
That’s why I suggested the run up to Elizabeth Lake ending in Castaic. I was up there last week and it is not ravaged by fire. So now the question is what day, Friday or Saturday?

I work on Saturday so Friday must be it for me. Check with the other people to see if we will have a group.

Re: Black Friday Run
Let’s meet Friday, November 23, 2018 around 9:30 AM and leave around 10:00 AM.
12071 Osborne St
Sylmar, CA 91342
We will be parking on the side of Osborne Street. It is wide with lots of room to park the cars. There is a 7-Eleven about a block away and a restaurant across the street. However, since the plan is to stop for lunch at:
The Rock Inn
17539 Elizabeth Lake Rd
Lake Hughes, CA 93532
Eat breakfast before coming. It looks to be around 60°F in Sylmar on Friday morning, around 55°F in Lake Hughes, and around 67°F in Castaic where we finish.

is not where the map you have is located or the picture.
The address is more like 11340 Osborne. Across the street from the back of the Ranch Side Cafe on Osborne Pl.

Hi All,
Looks like you will have to use your windshield wipers as it is going to be wet on your drive.
Raining in Ventura as I type this reply and coming down real good.

it’s supposed to be dry Friday. At least I hope so and if it is raining I will not go.
If it is dry, are you coming?

OK for me but without Becky. Shopping for her tomorrow.
Need to shake out some issues with the roadster solo.
Hoping you consider some of out local back roads around Agua Dulce. Dr Tom knows a couple. Better than the 14 freeway either north or south bound. Will discuss with you before takeoff.
Plan on meeting at your takeoff point at 9:30.

Black Friday Fun Run
Sounds good to me .
I don't think SWMBO has any plans for me so I'll try to be there ! 10AM, coffee in hand , fuel tank full and oil topped off .
I'll see if my Brother wants to tag along in his big grey ghost .

Weather : Black Friday Run
By the way, it already rained and the storm blew away, the roads are clean and dry, perfect Vintage Motoring weather, not cold .
If you have an open car or like the windows down, bring a hat/cap, maybe some gloves .

Re: Black Friday Run
What a gorgeous day. It was cool, but not cold. The sky was bright and the roads were mostly clear. The address I gave was correct, but next time we’ll go to the 7-Eleven and park in their parking lot. Tom, Don, Nate, and I showed up. Good thing I was there as I didn’t print out any maps. Tom and Don left us to go get coffee at the 7-Eleven.
Sorry, I forgot to take pictures at the beginning and the first stop.
We took Osborne Street which turns into Little Tujunga Canyon Road which turns into Sand Canyon Road to the 76 station at the corner of Sand Canyon Road and Solidad Canyon Road. We stopped there so that some who had traveled far to our starting location and those who got coffee at the 7-Eleven could take a short break.
We proceeded on Sand Canyon Road to Sierra Highway where and we made a right. We went two lights and turned left onto Vasquez Canyon Road. Vasquez Canyon Road ended at Bouquet Canyon Road where we took a right turn until we came up to Spunky Canyon Road where we took a left which ended at San Francisquito Canyon Road where we took a right. Up to Elizabeth Lake Road where we took a left up to Elizabeth Lake Road again, where we took another left to The Rock Inn.
We had a nice lunch. At this point, Don decided to drive home since it was fairly close.
We traveled further on Elizabeth Lake Road to Lake Hughes Road where we stopped across the entrance of Lake Hills Community Church.
What an absolutely brilliant Road.
Here’s where we parted ways. I think Nate said something about checking out the articulation of his easy chair and seeing if there were any holes in his eyelids. I drove down to the 5 and went home. I was surprised that Interstate 5 had so much traffic going north.
All in all it was a good day.
Cheers.

THAX Tanny ! .
That was great, *perfect* weather (just like I said), little to no traffic .
The food at The rock Inn is good, much better than you'd expect .
My recliner is working fine and nary an eyelid hole to be found .
My back however, is pretty FU-BAR .

Thanx Tom but it's too late ~ I sort of survived two fatal Motocycle accidents and several other things so it is what it is .
Listening to the glorious sounds of THREE British Sports Cars doing their thing was simply wonderful .

The Next Run
Thanx, we'll see .
The Mercedes seats are very good, I know I look funny walking 'round but once I'm seated and belted in it's all very good .
Most of my vehicles have custom seats because of my back and neck .
Watching Tom and Don Expertly manoever their vintage Sports Cars down wiggly roads is a real treat .
I need to get a faster, no, easier to drive fast car going so maybe (?) I can keep up better .
Don, remember to check your brake lights ! . they only came on _once_ all day, getting rear ended would be a shame .
They're nice and bright BTW so I'd look for power to the brake light switch first, then test to see if maybe the switch is aging and needs more pressure than normal to activate ~ that's the normal failure point, if so consider replacing the bulbs with LED's after you replace the switch as they draw far less current and so don't beat up the switches .
I usually go on a vintage British Motocycle ride New Year's Eve morning, it starts in Pasadena @8AM if anyone is interested .
I may not go this year due to a handlebar issue on my Moto .
