I guess mine froze. When I go to replace it will oil come out of the gear box?

Only if you have oil in the tranny in the first place.
And if some leaks out, it's pretty easy to replenish.
Besides, few transmissions have failed from too frequent oil changes as far as I know.

At the Fullerton MG Swap Meet there was a $20.00 used tranny with the hard to find right angle speedo drive on it...
