Hello all, sorry its been a hectic summer, so have not been very car social, sorry, not to mention the fact that its taken a while to get the Twin Cam back. Should be up and running next week, with new head gasket and a few other things I sorted. I realized as we were testing the ignition timing that my mechanical tach is way off , I already knew the speedo was not correct aswell, so wondered if you guys had any info on where to take them. Cant remember if I already asked this in the past ?
West Valley instruments is the nearest but Nisonger seems to have a good reputation but on the east coast.
cheers
Mark

Re: TACH / SPEEDO SHOP
West Valley is the only good shop I know of in our area. Nisonger does good work form what I've heard. Moma in New Mexico gets mixed reviews from great to poor, and I've heard pretty good things about Gauge Guys. I use West Valley primarily because I can drop it off in person, and if anything goes wrong then it's easier and faster to remedy.

West Valley did a GREAT job on both of our MG TD's instruments. Like Steve said, being local you can drop them off and pick them up. They even gave me extra green plastic to replace all the other older and missing on the other meters. I highly recomend them.

Re: TACH / SPEEDO SHOP
I need to get the speedo and tacho on a 64 MGB refurbished. I googled West Valley and came up with west Valley Instruments in Reseda - can I just check this is the company you were discussing and recommending?
Thanks for any help.

That's the place. I had the water/oil gauge done there. Highly recommended!

Re: TACH / SPEEDO SHOP
Although I use Don's Speedy Speedometer in Downy , Ca. for many years , No. Hollywood Speedometer on Lankershiem Blvd. in No. Ho. Ca. is tops when you need restoration quality work or custom work like say , having your old mechanical tachometer converted to a 12 volt electronic one that still looks 100 % original , fabrication of a clock to match the rest of your old tech gauges etcetera...
Don's is cheap and good but not for restoration work by any means .
No , I don't have the 'phone #'s handy , those are in the shop in my vendor's book .

Re: TACH / SPEEDO SHOP
I just had my speedometer for my 66 Spitfire rebuilt by West Valley Instruments - came out perfect and Morris was really helpful on the phone about removal and installation. They had previously done the Tach, speedo and cluster for my 57 Morgan Plus 4, which was also a great job. Very happy with the results -
